Honda Pilot - restyled version second generation, the hallmark of which was the new false radiator grille, which has become less original, but more solid. In addition, the “Pilot” received a redesigned light optics, as well as new bumpers, due to which the length of the crossover has grown by 5 mm and now is 4,875 mm. Width and height remained the same - 1,995 mm and 1,846 mm, respectively.
The model is offered exclusively in an eight-seater version - the third row of seats is configured for three riders. To imagine the dimensions of the Honda Pilot, it is enough to know the dimensions of the luggage compartment. Even in its normal state, that is, even in an eight-seat configuration, its volume is 510 liters. With the third and second rows folded down, the capacity of the “hold” increases to almost two and a half cubic meters (2,464 liters)!
Interior materials have changed. The silver plastic of the center console was changed to plastic with a darker shade. Expanded multimedia capabilities with an 8-inch color display. In addition to optional navigation, a 60 GB hard drive is now included, with 15 GB reserved for custom audio files.
Improved the manufacturer and sound insulation. In addition, the “Pilot” also has an active “silencer” - the Active Noise Control system, which, using the built-in microphones in the cabin, picks up aerodynamic noise and reproduces them in antiphase using standard acoustics. Thus, imperceptibly for passengers in the cabin, a quiet environment is created, allowing the front passengers to talk to the riders of the gallery without raising their voice. According to the company, the system is so efficient that, depending on the speed, the noise can be reduced by 10 dB.
All "Pilots" are equipped with a plug-in all-wheel drive system. Under normal conditions, the car remains front-wheel drive, but when slipping, as well as at the beginning of the movement, an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch transfers part of the traction to the rear wheels. At speeds up to 29 km / h, you can turn on the forced lock mode.
The V6 3.5 i-VTEC engine (249 hp, 347 Nm) is remarkable not only for the variable valve timing system, but also for the Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) cylinder deactivation mechanism at low load. All six cylinders are active during start-up and during active driving, but three cylinders are deactivated at low speed during quiet driving. At low engine speeds, but at high speeds, only two cylinders are turned off.
The only possible transmission for the Honda Pilot is a five-speed automatic. They produce a crossover in the city of Lincoln (Alabama, USA). Ground clearance Honda Pilot is 200 mm. The suspension design largely repeats the Acura MDX chassis - in front of the McPherson strut, and at the rear a multi-link. A small video tour of the Honda Pilot:
