Honda CR-V - the fourth generation of a mid-size crossover, all three previous generations of which were class bestsellers not only in the world, but also in Ukraine. The permanent competitor of the model - Toyota RAV4, which has also recently been updated. The dimensions of the Honda have not changed significantly. The length of the CR-V has decreased by 5 mm, and in height by 30 mm. At the same time, the wheelbase remained the same, which, paired with new interior materials, made the interior of the model more spacious and the trunk roomy.

Compared to its predecessor, the volume of the "hold" has increased from 556-1530 to 589-1669 liters. The back of the rear sofa folds in a ratio of 60 to 40. It is noteworthy that each part has its own lever in the trunk. In order to fold the backrest completely, just pull two levers. The loading height has been reduced by 25 mm compared to the third generation. Folded sofa forms a flat floor. Honda also improved the rear suspension, where instead of a two-lever scheme, a multi-link is now used. The front design remained the same - McPherson struts. The increased percentage of high-strength steel increased the bending rigidity of the body by 7%, and torsional rigidity by 9%.

The height adjustment ranges of the driver's seat and steering wheel in all directions have increased by 50 mm and 10 mm, respectively. But the ground clearance of the Honda CR-V has decreased from 185 to 170 mm. Nevertheless, the model received an improved all-wheel drive system. Now, not two, but one hydraulic pump is responsible for blocking the multi-plate clutch. The second gave way to the electric motor. The transmission has become not only lighter, but also nimble. The rear axle is now connected faster and more imperceptibly for the driver, without making extra slip due to the “thoughtfulness” of its predecessor. Under certain conditions, such as when going uphill, traction is transferred to the rear wheels preemptively.

In Europe, the Honda CR-V is offered with two drive options - front-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive. So far, only all-wheel drive versions are being imported to Ukraine.

The range of engines for the Ukrainian market consists of two petrol units with a volume of 2 (150 hp, 192 Nm) and 2.4 liters (190 hp, 220 Nm). Each of the modifications has its own characteristics. Firstly, the 150-horsepower version is produced at the company's plant in the English city of Swindon, and the more powerful one is in the city of East Liberty (Ohio, USA). The difference between them lies not only in dynamic performance, but also in the list of additional equipment, finishing materials and even in design. And don't forget about fuel. The 2.0 i-VTEC engine runs on 95 petrol, while the 2.4 i-VTEC runs on 92 petrol.

The front bumper of the "European" is pushed forward in a sporty way, while in the American modification it is beveled in an off-road way. And if in the first case the angle of entry of the crossover is 17 degrees, then in the second - 28.

Despite almost the same ergonomics, the interior materials of the models differ. In the two-liter version, the front panel is made of soft plastic, and comfortable knee pads are located on the sides of the center console on the driver and passenger sides. The more powerful "American" is not so attentive to detail.

There are nuances in the location of the controls. The parking brake on the 2.4-liter CR-V is controlled by a floor lever to the left of the pedal box. In the arsenal of "automatic" CR-V with a 150-horsepower engine, there are paddle shifters for manual mode. "Honda" with a 190-horsepower engine has only the Over Drive mode, which "cuts off" the two top gears of the five-speed automatic.

The chassis settings of two outwardly almost identical cars are also different. The suspension of cars in the European specification is adapted for active maneuvers, while in the American one, on the contrary, it is aimed at providing maximum comfort. The diameter of the front and rear anti-roll bars for the two-liter version is 23 and 17 mm versus 20 and 19 mm for the 2.4-liter.

In addition, in the list of additional equipment of the "American" you can not find rain sensors, tire pressure monitoring systems, front and rear parking sensors, headlight washers, and auto-finishing of power windows. But for the overseas model, a leather interior and a subwoofer are available.

The basic list of passive and active safety of all versions of the Honda CR-V includes six airbags, stability control systems, and hill start assistance.
