Honda CR-V — presentation of the fifth generation model took place in October 2016 in Detroit. Honda introduced the CR-V in European specification in July 2018. Despite the strong resemblance to the car of the previous iteration, technically the model has changed - it moved to a common one with the family Civic modular platform, received expanded equipment and improved interior finishing materials.

Serial production of a car started in November 2016 at the East Liberty Auto Plant in Ohio, USA. This marks the first time in Honda's history that the manufacturing process for a new global model has been matured and launched at a plant in the US. In addition to Ohio, the assembly of the new TsR-V was organized at nine more car assembly plants around the world. Moreover, in some Asian countries, the fifth generation Honda CR-V received seven-seater saloon with tilt-adjustable second and third row backrests.

With the change of generations, the Honda CR-V became 30 mm longer (4586 mm), 35 mm wider and higher (1855 mm and 1689 mm, respectively). The wheelbase has grown by 40 mm - up to 2660 mm, where the entire increase fell on the second row and rear door openings. According to the "passport" trunk volume (522 l), the CR-V has not yet caught up with its non-replaceable competitor Toyota RAV4 (577 l), but the electric tailgate with a programmable opening height was included in all configurations except for the base one, and the optional xenon headlights were replaced with full LED ones. The back of the second row folds in the proportion of 60/40, increasing the volume of the "hold" to 1084 mm.

The chassis design of the Honda CR-V has been preserved: MacPherson-type struts in front, multi-link in the back. The "passport" clearance of the crossover has increased from 170 to 208 mm.

The usual keyless entry buttons on the handles have given way to modern sensors. And the lower parts of the doors were covered with overlays made of unpainted plastic, which go to the thresholds. This way, when getting in and out, the pants will stay clean, even if the car is dirty on the outside. In addition, additional niches for “small things” appeared between the front seats, a button for turning on the brake hold system at a stop (Brake Hold) was placed next to the gearbox selector, and under the central deflectors of the climate system, the Japanese installed a touchscreen display of the updated media system based on Android OS.

The fifth-generation Honda CR-V comes standard with 6 airbags, keyless entry, push-button start, dual-zone climate control, heated windshield in the wiper rest area, 18-inch alloy wheels, heated front seats and power outside mirrors, electrical controls and heating. Also, the basic equipment includes paddle shifters, cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, rain and light sensors, an auto-dimming interior mirror, a leather steering wheel and a gearshift lever, 6 speakers, 4 USB connectors (2 for second-row passengers), HDMI connector, LED headlights and fog lights, as well as a rear view camera.

For the top level of equipment, a heated steering wheel, a leather interior, an electric sunroof, heated rear seats, power front seats (including the lumbar support of the driver's seat), memory of the positions of the driver's seat are provided. Also, a retractable head-up display, 8 speakers + a subwoofer, an additional cornering lighting system, Ambient interior lighting, a Lane Watch lane control system and other equipment are installed on the senior car.

In the US, the new Honda CR-V is available in both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. However, the crossover is delivered to Ukraine only in a 4x4 modification, and, like in the previous generation, the driver does not have a rear clutch lock button - everything is controlled by electronics. There was also only one engine at the start of sales - a 2.4-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine with a capacity of 186 hp. and a torque of 244 Nm paired with a variator that simulates gear changes in sport mode. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h takes 10.2-10.3 seconds, depending on equipment, and fuel consumption in the combined cycle is declared at 7.8 l / 100 km.

In the fall of 2018, sales of the "European" Honda CR-V of the fifth generation began. In addition to minor differences in the design of the exterior (different grille and running lights) and interior (other head restraints and backrest of the second row), this car is equipped with a 1.5-liter gasoline turbo engine. Unit power - 193 hp, maximum torque - 243 Nm. It is combined with a CVT and an all-wheel drive system, which gives acceleration from 0-100 km / h in 10 seconds and a “mixed” consumption of 7.1 l / 100 km.

In the spring of 2020, a hybrid version of the Honda CR-V in front- and all-wheel drive versions entered the Ukrainian market. Such crossovers are equipped with a 2.0-liter gasoline aspirated engine with a capacity of 145 hp. (torque up to 175 Nm), 184 hp electric motor. and 315 Nm and e-CVT hybrid continuously variable transmission. The paddle shifters on hybrids are used to adjust the intensity of the energy recovery system when braking. Fuel consumption in the combined cycle according to the manufacturer is 5.3 - 5.5 l / 100 km for mono- and all-wheel drive modifications, respectively.

Honda CR-V with a naturally aspirated 2.4L engine are manufactured by Honda in the USA. Crossovers with a 1.5L turbo engine are made in Japan.
