Honda Civic 5D - the first, in August 2016, debuted the American version of the 10th generation with a hatchback body, and already in September of the same year, the Japanese automaker told about the five-door for European markets. After a hiatus of 16 years, Honda unified the design four- and five-door versions of this model, and for the first time since 2005 began to sell in America and Europe almost the same car named Civic.
Compared to the previous "space" generation, the Civic hatchback has become more mundane: the passenger compartment has moved back, the front overhang has been shortened, the rear overhang has been enlarged, the rear door handles have been moved from the pillars to the sidewalls, and the spoiler on the fifth door no longer separates the glass. At the same time, the tenth generation five-door has become 130 mm longer and 30 mm wider than the “ninth” Civic. The wheelbase has also increased - from 2605 to 2697 mm, and the rear suspension has become multi-link (the previous generation had a torsion beam).
The "tenth" Honda Civic was based on a new platform, thanks to which the curb weight of the hatchback decreased by an average of 16 kg, depending on the configuration, and the torsional rigidity of the body increased by 52%. The interior has become more spacious - the distance from the backs of the front seats to the rear sofa has been increased by 95 mm, and passengers and the driver have also received more freedom in the shoulders.
The trunk volume of the tenth generation Honda Civic 5D is 478 liters, which is 44 liters more than the hatchback Renault Megane. The backrests of the second row are folded separately, increasing the volume of the cargo compartment to 1245 liters (under the ceiling).
In Europe, the Honda Civic 5D is available with two petrol turbo engines from the EarthDreams family. The 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine develops 128 hp, and the 1.5-liter “four” produces 182 hp. Both units are combined with a six-speed manual transmission and a CVT. In addition, Honda promises to equip the model with a 1.6-liter diesel engine.
On the Ukrainian market, the new Civic 5D is presented in the trim levels: Comfort, Elegance, Sport and the top version of Sport Plus. Comfort and Elegance hatchbacks are equipped with a 1.0-liter turbo engine, while Sport and Sport Plus models have a 1.5-liter turbo engine. Both units are combined with a stepless variator:
Already in the basic configuration, the Civic 5D has 6 airbags, ABS / EBD systems, as well as emergency braking and road stability assistance systems. In addition, the “base” provides an electronic parking brake, tire pressure monitoring, an alarm, an engine start and stop system (only for the 1.0L engine), electric power steering, gear shift paddles, single-zone climate control, cruise control, a light sensor, power windows of all windows, steering column with mechanical adjustments, electric and electric heating of exterior mirrors, central armrest in front, mechanical height adjustment of the driver's seat and heated front seats. The back of the second row folds separately (60:40), the base audio system boasts a 5-inch screen, USB, Bluetooth, 6 speakers and steering wheel controls.

In the Elegance version, leather steering wheel and CVT selector, black lacquer center panel trim, dual-zone climate control, rain sensor, front and rear parking sensors, rear view camera, electric folding mirrors, armrest for the second row and electric lumbar support driver's seat. The audio system in this case is already with a 7-inch screen and an HDMI connector, the rear windows are factory tinted, fog lights are installed, and blue lighting is added in the areas of the driver's and passenger's feet, armrests and interior door handles.

The Sport and Sport Plus versions are distinguished by RS Sport bumpers, front lighting with LED elements instead of halogen lamps, an exhaust tip and red interior lighting. At the same time, the top-end configuration provides for keyless entry, an engine start button, a blind spot monitoring system, an indicator for cars moving in the transverse direction, as well as an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, wireless phone charging, navigation, 9 speakers and a power sunroof.
