Honda Civic sedan (2011) - the model exists in several guises: European and American. In this case, in the first case we are talking about the Civic hatchback, and in the second - about the sedan. The assembly of the five-door was arranged at the company's factory in the UK, and it differs from the four-door Civic not only in the shape of the body, but also in the chassis settings, materials and interior design.
The sedan is produced not only in the USA, but also in Turkey. Turkish-assembled cars are intended for sale in the Baltic States, Finland, as well as in the former CIS countries and Eastern Europe. According to the company, the chassis of the Turkish "Sivik" is tuned and adapted to low-quality asphalt and differs from the "American" in greater energy intensity.
In addition, the Eastern European suspension is reinforced with stiffer shock absorbers and powerful anti-roll bars. The front, as before, uses McPherson struts, and a multi-link rear. Having reduced the wheelbase by 30 mm (to 2,670 mm), the Civic has kept its dimensions practically intact, but it has added free space for rear passengers: plus 40 mm for the legs and 75 mm at shoulder level. At the same time, the engineers tuned the chassis itself so that dangerous drifts were impossible in principle.
Compared to its predecessor, the share of high-strength steel in the body structure was increased from 50 to 55%. The body has become 7% lighter, but at the same time 10% torsionally stiffer.
The power plant of the model remained the same - a gasoline "four" with a displacement of 1,799 cubic meters. cm, aluminum block and cylinder head, as well as the i-VTEC variable valve timing mechanism. The maximum output of the engine has not changed either and is 142 hp. and 174 Nm of torque. But the efficiency of the engine has improved slightly. According to the assurances of the developers, the appetite of the Civic fell by an average of 5%.
It will help to save fuel and a special driving mode ECON, which is activated by a separate button to the left of the steering wheel. Thanks to her, not only the responses to the gas pedal turn green, but also the operation of the climate control system, automatic transmission algorithms.
While achieving maximum savings, the ECO system nevertheless slightly changes the character of the car, so Honda has provided an alternative Eco Assist mode, which, as conceived by the company, is more suitable for more active drivers. Its essence lies in changing the color of the electronic speedometer, which turns green at optimal speeds, and turns blue outside the economical range. Thus, the car is always ready to help the driver drive with minimal consumption and does not turn into a "phlegmatic".
The Honda Civic sedan is offered in three trim levels: LS, ES and ES+. The initial version includes front, side and curtain airbags, active assistants, including directional stability (VSA) and hill start assist (HSA), as well as climate control, rain and light sensors, multimedia (CD / MP3, AUX/USB) with a color display and 4 speakers, heated front seats, power windows for all doors, front and rear armrests, power and heated exterior mirrors, fog lights.
The ES package additionally receives rear parking sensors, power folding side mirrors, cruise control, leather-trimmed steering wheel, two speakers, xenon headlights with washers, chrome-plated exterior door handles.
The top ES+ variant features keyless entry, Bluetooth, and a power sunroof.
The basic box for the initial and secondary performance is a six-speed “mechanics”. A five-speed automatic for the LS and ES trim levels is offered at an additional cost. ES+ execution is "automatic" by default. At the same time, in the middle and top Civics, the machine can be controlled using the steering column switches.
