Honda Accord 2015 - in terms of its dimensions, the new Accord stepped over from the D-class to the E-class. Compared to the European version eighth generation the successor added 134 mm in length (it became 4,860 mm), 10 mm in width (1,850 mm) and 25 mm in height (1,465 mm). The wheel track has become wider by 5 mm, and the base - by 70 mm (2,775 mm).
The design of the suspension has also changed: for the sake of comfort, the Honda branded two-lever front gave way to McPherson struts, and additional damping springs were installed in the shock absorbers.
Thanks to the increased to 56% share of high-strength steel in the body frame, its rigidity increased by 40%. Testing by Euro NCAP specialists should not be expected in the near future, since the model will not be offered in Europe, but according to the results of crash tests of the American Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS - an analogue of Euro NCAP), the new Accord received the highest score.
Moreover, the sedan passed better than other classmates latest frontal collision with a 25 percent overlap, "cheat sheets" for the delivery of which the automakers did not have until recently.
The basic safety package includes two front, two side and curtain airbags. In addition, all versions of the "Accords" are equipped with anti-lock brakes, brake force distribution, emergency braking assistance, road stability, anti-slip control, and hill start assistance.
The top-end Executive with a 2.4-liter engine additionally receives a blind spot monitoring system on the starboard side lane watch, which, when the right turn signal is turned on, transmits the image from the camera in the right exterior mirror to the display of the multimedia system. Thus, the field of view of the right side increases from 22 to 80 degrees. You can also activate the camera forcibly by pressing a special button.
The same equipment, but with a 3.5-liter engine, is equipped with a frontal collision avoidance system by default Forward Collision Warning (FCW). Its operation is provided by a camera installed at the top of the windshield. Light and sound signals warn the driver of the danger of a collision. The system is activated at speeds between 16 and 160 km/h.
The Honda Accord is offered in three trim levels: elegance, Sport And Executive. The first two versions are only available with a 2.4-liter i-VTEC engine (180 hp, 228 Nm) with port injection. "Elegance" is aggregated by a five-band automatic, and "Sport" provides for two types of transmission - the base box is a six-speed "mechanics", the automatic is available only for a surcharge.
The range of engines in the Executive configuration, in addition to the 180-horsepower engine, also includes a V-shaped “six” i-VTEC with a volume of 3.5 liters (280 hp, 339 Nm). Its feature is the system Variable Cylinder Management (VCM), which at low load imperceptibly for the driver disables half of the cylinders. The motor is aggregated exclusively by automatic, but not five, but six-speed. Both the 2.4- and 3.5-liter engines run on 92-octane gasoline.
In the "base" Honda Accord is equipped with multimedia with AUX / USB connectors and 6 speakers, cruise control, dual-zone climate control. In addition, all "Accords" by default receive an active noise reduction system in the cabin. Active Noise Control (ANC), which was inherited from the senior in the class Honda legend. Two ceiling "microphones" pick up internal noise and transmit them in antiphase through the speakers of the standard audio system. According to the company, ANC reduces the noise intensity by about 10 dB.
The Sport version features full-LED low beam headlights with Highbeam Support System (HSS), an upgraded audio system with subwoofer, an auto-dimming interior mirror, and Bluetooth connectivity.
The Executive package includes a leather interior, adaptive cruise control with automatic braking (only for versions with a 3.5-liter engine), front and rear parking sensors, a rear view camera, power driver's seat, heated rear seats, an electric sunroof, as well as the ability to order a navigation system that provides for the replacement of a standard display with a resolution of 480x320 pixels with an improved monitor (800x480). Navigation routes are supplied by Navteq.
In addition, the difference between the Sport and Executive trim levels is not only in the length of the list of basic equipment, but also in the suspension settings, which are stiffer in the “sporty” version. The exterior of the top-end Honda Accord has a more austere appearance.
